What makes a good recruiter? Curiosity. I am always curious to find out the "whys" and "whats" when working with a client and recruiting talent. Think about it - all of these questions can be asked on both sides of the equation. Why are you looking (for a job/for talent)? What is your background/expertise (your credentials/your company & its history)? What would be a good fit for you (for the job/from a candidate)? What are your needs (for you as a candidate/for you as a client)? At the end of the day, it is about developing relationships/partnerships with clients and candidates that can ensure a good fit for both.
I have over 15 years of broad experience in staffing and recruiting - from recruiting, to account management to selling RPOs, MSPs, etc. to large corporations. However, I truly enjoy recruiting. It is a great feeling to get a win-win-win for everyone involved (the client/the candidate/myself). I always say there is a certain knack to recruiting, and that includes a little bit of polite persistence matched with knowing how to track down passive candidates.
