What makes a good recruiter? Curiosity. I am always curious to find out the 'whys' and 'whats' when working with a client and recruiting talent. Think about it — all of these questions can be asked on both sides of the equation. Why are you looking (for a job / for talent)? What is your background and expertise? What would be a good fit for you? What are your needs? At the end of the day, it is about developing relationships and partnerships with clients and candidates that can ensure a good fit for both.
I have over 15 years of broad experience in staffing and recruiting — from recruiting, to account management, to selling RPOs, MSPs, and more to large corporations. However, I truly enjoy recruiting. It is a great feeling to get a win-win-win for everyone involved (the client, the candidate, and myself). I always say there is a certain knack to recruiting, and that includes a little bit of polite persistence matched with knowing how to track down passive candidates.
