An established electronics company on Long Island is undergoing a growth phase and is starting new projects. We are actively seeking candidates for several key positions, including the Mechanical Engineer role. This role involves providing technical leadership in solving mechanical and thermal challenges at both box and board levels within an electronics manufacturing environment.

Qualified candidates will have experience in electronic hardware design, particularly with circuit card assemblies at both the box and board level. Experience with finite element analysis, thermal and structural simulation, and the use of CAD and modeling tools like SolidWorks is essential.

Essential Functions:

Provide technical leadership in the Engineering department to solve mechanical and thermal challenges.
Perform box and board-level mechanical design, considering factors like mass, shock, vibration, and thermal conductivity.
Model and analyze heat transfer characteristics and thermal radiation for box-level systems.
Use industry-accepted engineering design and analysis software.
Assess interdisciplinary manufacturing process tradeoffs and costs to make optimal decisions.
Assign work across the design team to encourage creative solutions to design challenges.
Create Engineering drawings in accordance with accepted industry standards.
Track, plan, coordinate, and monitor all aspects of mechanical and thermal product design from initial specifications through to design and manufacture.
Develop innovative methods and procedures for achieving product requirements and specifications.
Mentor, coach, and train staff to achieve higher levels of technical and professional success.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required; a Graduate degree is desirable.
Experience: Seven or more years of experience in mechanical design and analysis in aerospace or related industries.
Skills:
- Proficiency in CAD drafting, assembly stacks, and solid modeling (SolidWorks preferred).
- Expertise in Finite Element Analysis (FEA), including thermal and structural simulations.
- Experience in Finite Element Modal analysis (FEM), shock analysis, and verification testing.
- Knowledge of mechanical concepts, machining, design for manufacture (DFM), and tooling.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and advanced mathematics skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with Military specifications (e.g., MIL-STD-810) and IP (Ingress Protection) ratings.
